Made in CologneKrupwerk is German-born Alex Stenzel's brainchild. It is the acoustic equivalent to his series of Overpainted Photographs, which portray mostly rusted and industrial objects. Alex Stenzel wanted to make dark, industrial dance music, the antidote to Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake. It was a gloomy winter evening in Cologne, Germany, when the vision came alive in November, 2008. While in a pub there, Alex met his long time friend, Robert Crash (Eurhythmics, Robert Plant), and after having a glass of wine and a couple of bottles of beer together, they went over to Dirk Nikolaiıs studio, which was located in the industrial suburbs of Cologne. The trio rocked out, and "Worship" was created--the foundation for Krupwerk was laid. Robert is currently busy with other projects, but Alex and Dirk are committed to continue producing high quality, dark, industrial dance music that is made in Germany. Though itıs truly a California/German marriage, since Alex lives in Los Angeles. Alex writes the lyrics and is on vocals, and Dirk handles all the instrumental parts, fixing it in the mix. The jamming happens via Skype. The "Coachella Song" is their latest baby.
